 Anouncement:

The Year of Saint Francis (2026–2027)

A Special Plenary Indulgence for the Eighth Centenary of the Saint’s Transitus.

By decree of the Apostolic Penitentiary, our Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, has declared a special Year of Saint Francis to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the Saint’s passing. From January 10, 2026, to January 10, 2027, all the faithful have the opportunity to obtain a Plenary Indulgence.

How to Obtain the Indulgence

To gain this grace for oneself or apply it to the souls in Purgatory, the following "usual conditions" must be met:

 * Sacramental Confession (within a few days before or after).

 * Eucharistic Communion (on the day the work is performed).

 * Prayer for the Intentions of the Holy Father (typically an Our Father and Hail Mary).

 * Complete Detachment from Sin, even venial sin.

Specific Works for this Jubilee

During this Holy Year, the faithful must also perform one of the following acts:

 * Make a Pilgrimage: Visit a Franciscan church or any place of worship dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi.

 * Participate in Rites: Attend Jubilee celebrations or special liturgical services in honor of the Saint.

 * Devout Prayer: Spend time in meditation and prayer at a Franciscan site, concluding with the Our Father, the Creed, and invocations to the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Francis, and St. Clare.

For the Sick and Homebound

Those who are elderly or infirm and cannot leave their homes may obtain the Indulgence by spiritually uniting themselves with the Jubilee celebrations, offering their prayers and sufferings to God, and fulfilling the three conditions (Confession, Communion, and Prayer for the Pope) as soon as circumstances permit.

"Let us follow the example of the Seraphic Patriarch by transforming hope into concrete charity and a commitment to peace." — Pope Leo XIV

Blessings,

Father Juan Carlos Ruiz, OFM

OUR MISSION

We come together from three different parishes to form a community of faith whose patron is St. Isidore the Farmer. Our Ancestors have given many of us a German work ethic and a bond with the soil. We form a sacramental people in the Matton Deanery of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield in Illinois. The Sacred Scriptures and the sacraments of the Church sustain us as we strive to know, love, and serve the Lord; forgive those who offend us; welcome the stranger; bring the gospel to the marketplace; and develop hearts that are filled with gratitude. We endeavor to be instruments of the Holy Spirit in building the kingdom of God.
